Disgusting Behavior: Joe DeCamara admits he rooted for the “Nova Knicks” and should be ashamed of himself
There’s a certain set of unwritten rules that come with being a Philadelphia sports fan and one of them, probably the most important, is that you simply never root for the city of New York.
I don’t care if it’s the Yankees, the Mets, the Giants, the Rangers, or the Knicks. It just can’t happen outside of the Mets or Yankees, the Knicks are probably the worst team to root for out of all of them.
The Knicks embody everything the fighting city of Philadelphia stands against. Their fanbase is filled with a bunch of morons and the organization itself are a bunch of loud, overhyped, media-boosted frauds who haven’t won anything in over 50 years and still somehow act like basketball royalty.
So when I saw the clip of Philadelphia Sports Radio Host Joe DeCamara admitting he rooted for the “Nova Knicks,” it’s only right to call out this disgusting behavior.
Trust me, I am very well aware that 94.1 WIP is filled with nonsense and personally, I don’t even listen to any of it, but social media loves to spread their engagement farming radio clips all over my timeline so I have no choice but to respond.
Joe DeCamara: Disgusting Behavior
The segment started off bad enough. Jon Ritchie—who I already question at times—dropped this bomb:
“I wish the Knicks would have actually made the Finals.”
That’s strike one. In comes Joe DeCamara with a follow up, saying he would’ve rooted for them because he’s a Villanova fan.
Are we serious right now?
I’m a Villanova guy myself. I get the pride. I loved Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo during their title run. But the second they put on that Knicks jersey and started playing at Madison Square Garden, all of that was out the window.
You’re not repping Nova anymore—you’re repping New York. And even that argument doesn’t hold weight anymore, because the Knicks already stabbed Donte in the back by trading him to the Timberwolves.

They’re not the “Nova Knicks.” They’re just the damn Knicks.
Joe DeCamara continues to be one of the most fraudulent voices on Philly radio. Maybe it all comes from Spike Eskin, who grew up a Knicks and New York sports fan? I’m not sure but it really doesn’t matter.
I don’t care how long you’ve been behind a mic in this city—once you root for the Knicks, you’ve crossed a line you can’t come back from. And while I always believe you are entitled to your own opinion, having one that violates your audience like this, is just flat out wrong.
Not to mention all the pain and suffering the Sixers fanbase specifically has gone through; to hear one of the voices of their afternoon sports talk radio show admit they were rooting for a New York team, makes you lose Philly credibility if you’re Joe DeCamara.
Shoutout to Devan Kaney, the Only One With a Brain
Thankfully, someone in that room still had their Philly soul intact. Shoutout to Devan Kaney for checking Joe on air and calling his take exactly what it was—gross.
“That’s gross.”

Finally, someone in sports talk radio who gets it.
Turn in your Philly card Joe
Joe DeCamara’s entire platform is supposed to be rooted in understanding Philly fans—living and breathing with us through every loss, every heartbreak, every playoff collapse. But the second you openly admit you rooted for New York, you’re done.
You don’t get to lead the city’s sports conversations. You don’t get to carry the mic like you represent us. Because you don’t.
You represent fraudulence. You represent betrayal. You represent everything we’re not. And while I understand how the sports talk radio machine works, you need to have someone that irritates the fans so that they call in, this is a violation. And I refuse to stand for it.
In fact that is why I am pounding away at this keyboard right now. Here at The Liberty Line we started this thing for the best fans in the world who have gone tired of how our beloved sports teams are covered in this city
