E.J. Speed Reflects on Departure from Colts: “I Gave it My All”
May 25, 2025 – Indianapolis, IN — Linebacker E.J. Speed has officially closed the chapter on his time with the Indianapolis Colts, offering heartfelt words as he moves on to the next phase of his NFL career.
Speaking publicly for the first time since his departure, Speed said, “I gave it my all. Every practice, every game — I left everything on the field for Indy. It was never about stats or headlines, just about doing my job and being there for my teammates.”
Speed, a 2019 fifth-round pick out of Tarleton State, carved out a significant role on the Colts’ defense and special teams over the past few seasons. Known for his speed, physicality, and leadership, Speed’s presence in the locker room and on the field was deeply respected.
While details of his next destination remain unconfirmed, Speed’s departure is part of a broader reshuffling in Indianapolis as the team continues to build around a younger core.
“I’m grateful for the fans, the coaches, and everyone in the building,” Speed added. “Indy will always be home to me in some way.”
As one of the more underappreciated defenders in the league, Speed is expected to be a valuable addition wherever he lands next.
