Eagles Make Major Decision Dallas Goedert

Posted on April 28, 2025

If the Philadelphia Eagles really wanted to replace Dallas Goedert, the team would have used one of its 10 draft picks over the weekend on a tight end.

In what was perceived as one of the deepest tight end classes in years, the Eagles chose not to address the position, instead opting to roll with Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, and their free agent additions.

While their draft strategy could have been seen as a way for the Eagles to keep Goedert on the roster, the organization still isn’t guaranteeing anything.

“Dallas is part of the team,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman told the media at the NovaCare Complex after the final day of the draft “Obviously, as we go forward, we’re going to continue to address things on this team. Right now, nothing further.”

Goedert is 30 years old now and entering the final year of his deal with the Eagles. He is looking for a new contract while Philadelphia is looking to lower his over $11 million cap hit this season.

Just because he is not on he roster now, though, doesn’t mean he will remain after the draft. Even if Roseman is doing what he can to keep him on the team.

“Dallas is a heck of a player,” Roseman said. “Heck of a player, heck of a person. Certainly don’t want to do anything publicly where we’re discussing anyone’s business, but I have so much respect for him. We’ve been to two Super Bowls together, and obviously, we love him on this team. You always love having Dallas on this team.

“We’re not there right now on any of that, but…love Dallas Goedert.”

The draft has come and gone, and Goedert is still with the Eagles. While that could be a good sign moving forward, things can change drastically for Philly in the coming weeks.
