The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24, and the Eagles are in the process of formulating their draft board. With eight selections this year and an estimated 12 picks in 2026, general manager Howie Roseman has an opportunity to be aggressive in acquiring the players he wants. One NFL insider expects the team to make multiple trades during the three-day event.
On the latest episode of “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” released Tuesday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said he “guaranteed” the Eagles would make a trade or two during the draft.
“Let me give you one team that I think is going to be in the market to be bouncing all around potentially,” Schefter said. “Either moving up draft boards or trading for a veteran player or two. That would be your defending champion Philadelphia Eagles.
“Over the next two drafts, the Eagles are scheduled to have 20 draft picks. They can’t have 20 players make their roster. Their roster is too good and too deep to have all of these picks make their roster.”
Schefter added that he believes Roseman will use some of those picks, either this year or in 2026, to move up and acquire a targeted player.
“It would be like him and that organization to trade some of these future picks for a veteran that a team knows it’s not going to re-sign,” Schefter said. “That, to me, is the team to watch, as always, on draft weekend, because I will guarantee you right now we are going to get a trade or two out of the Philadelphia Eagles. I don’t know for who. I don’t know for what.”
Roseman has a history of making trades that have had a significant impact on the roster. During last year’s draft, the Eagles packaged their two second-round selections and sent them to the Washington Commanders to move up 10 spots and select defensive back Cooper DeJean. The team also traded with the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 draft to take wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Both players scored touchdowns in the team’s Super Bowl LIX win.
