On the heels of a massive win over the New York Liberty, the Indiana Fever announced one of their own is heading to Paris later this month to compete in the Olympics.
Fever guard Kristy Wallace, a native of Queensland, Australia, has been selected to the Australian Women’s National Team. With her addition to Team Australia’s roster, Wallace also becomes just the fifth player in Indiana Fever history to be selected for an Olympic basketball team.
Previous Fever players selected to play in the Olympics include Tamika Catchings, Natalie Achonwa, Tully Bevilaqua and Kara Wolters. Catchings has the most Olympic appearances, making the Team USA roster in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016.
Prior to joining the Fever, Wallace played college hoops at Baylor before returning to Australia to play in the National Women’s Basketball League. She was drafted to the WNBA in 2018 by the Atlanta Dream, but did not suit up for the Dream until the 2022 season. The Dream traded Wallace to the Fever prior to the 2023 season.
Wallace is no stranger to playing international basketball, having helped lead Team Australia to a bronze medal in the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
