Former NFL QB Throws Head-Turning Shot at Eagles Star Jalen Hurts

Posted on April 17, 2025

Jalen Hurts is fresh off of leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a dominant Super Bowl win over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Being able to get revenge for their championship loss to the Chiefs back in 2023 could not have been sweeter. Over the past few years, Hurts has become one of the most successful quarterbacks in the NFL. He has made it to the Super Bowl in two out of the last three years and the future still looks very bright for the Eagles. While he has found a lot of success, there are still some who doubt his individual talent. One of those doubters happens to be a former NFL quarterback. Chase Daniel is not the biggest fan of Hurts and made it clear that he would not start a franchise with the Philadelphia signal caller.

During an appearance on Fox Sports’ “The Facility,” Daniel unveiled his bold opinion about Hurts. “There are only four guys that I would take to start a franchise with,” Daniel said. “Quite honestly … there’s more than four guys who I would take to start a franchise with over Jalen Hurts today. Because of that, I can’t sit here and say I want to start a franchise with Jalen Hurts. He’s not in the top nine or 10.” Daniel is entitled to his opinion and there are quite a few out there who would agree with him. However, Hurts has been putting up numbers that fire back at his take.

During the 2024 NFL season, Hurts played in 15 regular season games. He completed 68.7 percent of his pass attempts for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions. In addition, he picked up 630 yards and 14 more touchdowns on the ground. In the playoffs, Hurts threw for 726 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception in four games while completing 71.4 percent of his passes. He also chipped in with 194 yards and five scores on the ground. Hurts had Saquon Barkley with him in the background. His numbers were not as big as some of the other elite quarterbacks in the NFL, but he wasn’t required to power the offense by himself. Regardless of what the media says about him, Hurts can rest easy knowing his led his team to a championship. He’s also just 26 years old with plenty of time to pursue another ring.
