Happy birthday to Ben Johnson, the leader of The Chicago Bears!

Posted on May 12, 2025

On May 11, 2025, the Chicago Bears celebrated the 39th birthday of their head coach, Ben Johnson. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Johnson has rapidly ascended the NFL coaching ranks, culminating in his appointment as the 18th full-time head coach in the Bears’ storied 106-year history.

Johnson’s journey to the helm of the Bears is marked by a blend of academic prowess and football acumen. After playing quarterback at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with degrees in mathematics and computer science, he embarked on a coaching career that included stints at Boston College, the Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Lions.

His tenure with the Lions was particularly noteworthy. As offensive coordinator from 2022 to 2024, Johnson transformed Detroit’s offense into one of the league’s most formidable units. In 2024, the Lions averaged a franchise-record 409.5 yards per game and led the NFL with 32.4 points per game, scoring 68 total offensive touchdowns—the most by any team that season.

Recognizing his offensive ingenuity and leadership qualities, the Bears appointed Johnson as head coach on January 21, 2025. His hiring was met with enthusiasm from fans and analysts alike, who anticipated a revitalization of the Bears’ offense and overall team performance.

As Johnson celebrates his 39th birthday, the Bears community reflects on his contributions and looks forward to the future under his guidance. His blend of analytical thinking and football strategy positions him as a forward-thinking leader poised to steer the Bears toward sustained success.

Happy birthday to Coach Ben Johnson—a visionary leader whose impact on the Chicago Bears is just beginning to unfold.
