HUGE BLOW: The Reds Confirms Major Setback As Another Top-Notch Fans Man Out For 4 to 6 Weeks

Posted on April 11, 2025

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Cincinnati Reds prospect Cam Collier is set to undergo surgery on Thursday to fix a torn ligament in his left thumb.

Reds manager Terry Francona shared the news with reporters, including those from the Cincinnati Enquirer, on Sunday. The injury is expected to sideline Collier from hitting for about 4 to 6 weeks.

The 20-year-old infielder hurt the ulnar collateral ligament in his glove hand during a game against the Chicago Cubs on March 2.

Collier, selected 18th overall in the 2022 MLB draft, has been recognized as one of the sport’s top 100 prospects by several outlets. Last season, he batted .248 with 20 home runs and 74 RBIs while playing for Class A Dayton.
