Indianapolis Colts make another undrafted free agent addition, signing a running back

Posted on May 10, 2025

On Friday morning, the Indianapolis Colts announced 14 undrafted rookie additions. On Friday afternoon, the team announced one more.

The Colts have signed Ole Miss running back Ulysses Bentley IV to a UDFA deal.

Bentley measured in at just under 5-10 and weighed 201 during the pre-draft process. He posted a Relative Athletic Score of 2.85, which included a 4.62-second 40.

Bentley spent three seasons at SMU and the last three seasons at Ole Miss. Over his career, he carried the ball 467 times, averaged 5.5 yards per rush, and scored 28 touchdowns.

His most productive season came in 2020 when he rushed for 913 yards on 170 carries with 11 touchdowns. This past year, Bentley carried the ball 84 times for 419 yards.

In the passing game, Bentley had a small role, totaling 25 targets over the last two years, and averaged 7.7 yards per catch, according to PFF.

GM Chris Ballard said at the NFL combine that the Colts need more production from the backup running back role this season. To help generate that, Ballard signed Khalil Herbert in free agency and used a fifth-round pick on DJ Giddens.
