Indianapolis Colts Select TE Tyler Warren With 14th Overall Pick

The Indianapolis Colts were determined to get the player they wanted with the 14th pick in the NFL Draft. Adding a player of this caliber will really help whoever the starting quarterback is. GM Chris Ballard stated that the type of tight end they want is one built like ex-Colt Jack Doyle. This pick will really help propel this team into the NFL Playoffs. Let’s take a closer look at how well Warren will fit into this offense.

Indianapolis Colts Select Tyler Warren- TE, (Penn State)

In his NFL pre-draft press conference, he stated that the mold they wanted at tight end was a former Colt, and that was Jack Doyle. Warren will bring size, athleticism, and competitive spirit. Warren has the best player on the field mentality and swagger to go along with it as he plays the game of football.

Despite his size, he can beat man coverage underneath and also will find the holes in that zone coverage. He also has the ability to have a lot of “You Got Mossed” segments on ESPN; he is that good. He can win at all three levels of the defense, but does his best work in the short and intermediate game. This is a great pick for the Indianapolis Colts, and it will be nice to see the number 44 on the Colts roster again.

Final Thoughts

This pick was a no-brainer for the Colts front office. Warren will provide a threat at the tight end position, something the team has not seen in a long time. He will be a safety check-down for our starting quarterback and be an additional passing threat. The Colts’ tight ends last season could not break 500 yards collectively. That will all change with the 14th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Stay tuned for the rest of the Colts’ Draft picks on Total Apex Media.
