Jets lead the league in capital spent on quarterbacks, to no avail

It’s rare but sometimes the depths of the New York Jets struggles astound even me. But rare leaves just enough room for daylight, and, this week, daylight shined right on through.

As shown above, the New York Jets have used the most capital on drafting quarterbacks since 2018, which is 6 whole seasons ago. In that time, the Jets have drafted two quarterbacks in the top 5, which each went bad enough that they separately traded multiple high picks for a quarterback who they removed from their roster after his first season of actual play.

While it doesn’t take a chart to let Jets fans know “this has gone bad,” I think this chart does a beautiful job of showing just how bad it has gone… which is to say very, very, very bad. Moving forward, the hope is that the new regime of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey can turn this around. Based on this, up might be the only direction available.
