Netflix announced Thursday that its documentary series Receiver will premiere on July 10. This new series serves as a sequel to last summer’s hit Quarterback.
The show will spotlight five elite NFL pass catchers: Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders), Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings), Amon-Ra St. Brown (Detroit Lions), George Kittle (San Francisco 49ers), and Deebo Samuel (San Francisco 49ers).

Similar to Quarterback, which debuted in July and followed Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, Receiver is a collaboration between NFL Films, Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, and Mahomes’ 2PM Productions. The series will consist of eight episodes, each lasting 45 minutes.
Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction sports, Gabe Spitzer, added: “The natural next step from a pass is a catch, so following the success of Quarterback, we’re eager to explore the world of receivers. NFL Films and Omaha Productions have once again identified compelling and dynamic athletes who will bring to life the intensity of this sport, both on and off the field.”
The 2023 season was a memorable one for Kittle and Samuel, two of the most vibrant personalities on the team.
Kittle, for instance, underwent core muscle surgery after the season and recently revealed that he had been managing the issue for 10 months. This included the Week 16 Christmas night matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, a game he likened to “Christmas” due to his admiration for Baltimore’s physical style. Despite the injury, Kittle delivered an impressive 126-yard performance, making his perseverance all the more remarkable.
Meanwhile, Samuel found himself in an ongoing verbal feud with Philadelphia Eagles defenders, a carryover from the 49ers’ NFC Championship loss in the 2022 season. He got his revenge in Week 12 when the 49ers dominated the Eagles in an eventful game—highlighted by a sideline confrontation involving Eagles staffer Big Dom. Samuel arrived in all-black funeral attire and then torched Philadelphia’s defense with three long touchdowns.

One of the most striking visuals of the Raiders’ 2023 season came when Davante Adams slammed his helmet to the ground in frustration during a Monday night loss to the Lions. The significance of that moment became clear when head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler were fired the following day.
