The Pittsburgh Steelers have added a dynamic playmaker to their receiving corps, signing Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond as an undrafted free agent (UDFA) today.
Bond, who ran an officially timed 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Combine, steps in to fill the void left by George Pickens, traded to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this offseason.Bond, 21, brings elite speed and clutch ability to Pittsburgh.
In 2024, he recorded 34 receptions for 540 yards and five touchdowns at Texas, following two seasons at Alabama where he made the iconic Iron Bowl catch in 2023. “I’m here to focus on football and help the Steelers win,” Bond said at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. “The past is behind me, and I’m ready to earn my place.”
His signing addresses Pittsburgh’s need for a deep threat alongside DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin III, especially after allowing 42 sacks in 2024 due to a struggling offensive line.Bond’s journey to Pittsburgh was complicated by off-field issues. On April 10, 2025, he surrendered to Frisco, Texas, police on a sexual assault warrant, posting $25,000 bail and being released the same day.
Bond called the accusations “patently false” in a statement, cooperating fully with authorities and filing a federal complaint against his accuser, alleging the claims were defamatory. “That chapter is closed,” Bond told reporters. “My focus is on proving myself on the field.”Steelers coach Mike Tomlin praised Bond’s resilience: “Isaiah’s speed and heart fit our culture. He’s ready to work.”
