Audacy Sports “96.5 The Fan” KRBZ-FM Kansas City has announced a multi-year contract extension with MLB’s Kansas City Royals.
The deal follows the Sports format’s move to FM last August. Predecessor “610 Sports” KCSP has served as the Royals flagship station since 2008.
Audacy has been under fire as of late for nationwide cuts to radio stations and on-air staff, something felt especially in the Kansas City area. Nevertheless, keeping the Kansas City Sports market remained a top priority.
Audacy Kansas City SVP/Market Manager Roxanne Marati said, “We’re thrilled to extend our longstanding partnership with the Royals and, for the first time ever, bring every pitch, hit, and home run to fans on crystal-clear FM. As the premier home for everything Kansas City sports, we’re proud to be the go-to destination for Royals fans and keep them connected to their favorite team throughout the year.”
Royals President of Business Operations Brooks Sherman added, “Audacy is an important and valued partner for us and has earned their reputation as one of our fans’ favorite platforms to connect with the Royals. Moving to FM is a positive for everyone, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Audacy to serve the needs of our passionate and knowledgeable fans.”
In addition to carrying all games with pre and post-game shows, KFNZ-FM will feature a weekly inverview with Royals manager Matt Quatraro every Wednesday at 9am and bi-monthly interviews with EVP/General Manager JJ Piccolo.
