Klay Thompson reveals why he chose the Dallas Mavericks: A rebuke for the Warriors?
He has penned a lucrative three-year deal with the Mavs that will see him earn an incredible 50 million dollars, and he will be looking for salvation after a tough recent period.During his Mavericks’ introductory press conference, Klay Thompson detailed his mindset for coming to Dallas. When asked about why he chose the Mavs, Thompson said: “Dallas was so attractive because of the young players they have, the style of play, the world-class treatment these players get from the organization, and a beautiful city that loves their hoops.”
It is clear that he holds some negative views of his former team which is not a great look for the Warriors, but he did try to temper the tone later on.
“I’m very grateful for my time at Golden State, but I just felt like moving on could just re-energize me and do something special for the rest of my career,” he said.
“Coming here is just such a fresh start and feeling wanted again, and I bring great value.”
Thompson had been reduced to something of a bench role with the Warriors which everyone knows is a waste of such a good player.
“I just saw myself fitting in well with this team and this personnel… They play for each other, and that’s all I needed to see. There was mutual interest, and that’s why I’m here,” he said.
