The Detroit Lions have become one of the best teams in the NFL under the guidance of Dan Campbell. Now that Motor City’s team is making its presence felt week in and week out during the NFL season, the Lions’ ownership group elected to show its appreciation for all of the hard work put in by the players and coaches by significantly upgrading the team’s home away from home.
Yes, we are talking about Detroit’s locker room at the Meijer Performance Center. Lions players identified the locker room situation as one of the biggest issues facing Detroit’s franchise while participating in the league-wide NFLPA survey that was released in February. Well, it seems safe to say that those critiques were heard loud and clear by the organization, and it was something the franchise directly addressed this offseason.
In the NFLPA report card released in February, one of two areas of improvement identified by Lions players was “updating outdated lockers.”

Lions Replace Outdated Lockers After NFLPA Report Card
As you can see from the video above, the Lions spared no expense in upgrading the “outdated” locker room and weight room that was in place for the team at their practice facility in Allen Park. When you take into account the amount of time that Jared Goff and company spend at this facility during the season, it makes perfect sense for the players to want an atmosphere that allows them to effectively rest and recuperate in addition to putting in hard work on the field.
It is immensely easier to attract top talent when your team is winning consistently. Detroit has gotten that part down under Dan Campbell. Now, the Lions’ ownership group is making sure that they do all of the things off the field to attract top talent to the franchise as well, and that should only help keep this organization atop the NFC North for years to come.
