LIV golfer Richard Bland blasts DP World Tour over partnership with PGA Tour, new Ryder Cup qualifying…..
The announcement comes weeks after LIV revealed its 2024 Individual Championship will take place at Bolingbrook Golf Club in the Chicago region from September 13–15.
“Our LIV Golf players are looking forward to playing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with its great golf tradition,” said LIV Golf Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer Greg Norman. “Texas is legendary for producing and hosting great golfers who set a high bar while competing for championships. Our LIV Golf Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club will be a great experience for our players and all the fans in attendance.”
The event will include all 13 teams competing, with the top three teams receiving first-round byes and automatically qualifying for Saturday’s semifinals. Teams will be seeded based on the regular season team standings. The teams seeded 4-13 will compete in matches on Friday, with matchups determined at a press conference featuring team captains. The five winners of the opening round will then advance to Saturday’s play.
“Members of Maridoe Golf Club are pleased to host the LIV Golf Team Championship in September,” said Maridoe Golf Club Founder Albert Huddleston. “Maridoe is designed to be an enjoyable but demanding member’s club while always ready to provide a great test for elite golfers to entertain golf enthusiasts.”
Last season, Crushers GC with Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri won the team championship in Miami. Halfway through the 2024 season, the Crushers have wins in Jeddah and Hong Kong and sit in first place with 105.50 points.
“This year’s Team Championship at Maridoe Golf Club holds special significance for me as we make our Dallas debut and our team strives to defend our title in front of a home crowd,” said DeChambeau, captain of Crushers GC. “I’m excited to play this course and compete in front of Texas fans for our closing event and can’t wait to bring LIV Golf’s electrifying energy and fierce competition to Dallas.”
