The New York Giants have spent the past few years becoming one of the NFL’s punchlines.
While they did manage a playoff appearance in 2022, it’s been all downhill since. And with what many are calling the toughest schedule in the league for 2025, there’s growing speculation that the franchise could be headed for another overhaul once the season ends.
Meanwhile, division rival Washington Commanders know exactly what that kind of dysfunction feels like — they lived it for years. But those days appear to be behind them.
After making a stunning run to the NFC Championship Game, Washington now looks like a team on the verge of a Super Bowl push. And with the Commanders, Eagles, and Cowboys all getting attention for their quarterback situations and playoff hopes, the Giants find themselves… mostly ignored.
Maybe even overlooked.
That’s just fine with New York — because they believe they’ve found their answer in veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. The 36-year-old former Super Bowl champ says he’s ready for the challenge of turning the franchise around.
“The opportunity here is so great,” Wilson said on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with Carmelo Anthony, via NFL.com. “I don’t mind the lights. I don’t mind that part of it. I think the other part of it for me, most importantly of it all, is I’ve been here before.”
With Wilson now under center, the Giants are confident they’ll be a major step up from last season’s disaster. The big question: are their division rivals underestimating them?
If Washington can go from forgotten to contenders in one offseason — why not New York?
