A handful of undrafted Michigan State football players are earning NFL opportunities immediately following the draft this past weekend and Montorie Foster Jr. has joined the mix.
The veteran receiver from Cleveland, Ohio, might be heading back home for an opportunity with his hometown Cleveland Browns as they extended him a minicamp invite this week.
But the Browns weren’t the only NFL team to extend him a minicamp invite.

That’s right, Foster has the rare opportunity to choose which minicamp invite he wants to pursue — or he could do both (I’m not sure how these invites work in terms of exclusivity).
The Browns are holding their rookie minicamp from May 9-11 while the Seahawks is a few weeks later. This means that Foster could make his rounds here and attend both which gives him the best chance to be invited to fall camp.
Foster had an interesting career in East Lansing. He was a star basketball player in high school before giving football a try and he was instantly recruited by some big programs. Mark Dantonio came calling and he couldn’t say no. He stuck with the Spartans after Dantonio retired suddenly and redshirted in Mel Tucker’s first season in 2020. In 2021, he caught 12 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown and in 2022 he had just seven catches for 98 yards and a score. He broke out for 576 yards and three scores on 43 catches in 2023 and then finished in 2024 with a career-best 46 receptions for 588 yards and three touchdowns under Jonathan Smith.
I was a little surprised to see no team signed him as an undrafted free agent, but it’s not shocking to see multiple NFL teams show interest shortly after.
Foster is an easy Spartan to root for.
