New Mock Draft Projects Raiders to Add Two Electrifying Offensive Weapons

Posted on April 12, 2025

In a new 2025 NFL Mock Draft by The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, the Las Vegas Raiders take an unexpected yet strategic approach to bolstering their offense. While many draft analysts have speculated that the team will use their No. 6 overall pick to select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Reed presents an alternate scenario.

Instead of focusing on the backfield early, the Raiders address a critical need on the offensive line by selecting Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou in the first round. Membou is known for his athleticism and pass protection, qualities that could solidify the line and offer quarterback Geno Smith more time in the pocket.

Even though Jeanty wasn’t the pick, Reed’s mock still has the Raiders loading up on offensive talent in the second round. With their No. 37 overall pick, they snag Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins. Judkins, who racked up more than 1,200 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns for the National Champion Buckeyes last season, brings a dynamic skill set to Las Vegas.

Despite splitting time with TreVeyon Henderson, Judkins showcased his ability to contribute in both the rushing and passing game. His familiarity with Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly—who previously coached at Ohio State—should give him an edge in adapting to the Raiders’ playbook quickly.

Later in the second round, the Raiders make an aggressive move by trading away their third and fourth-round picks to grab Iowa State wide receiver Jayden Higgins at No. 57. Higgins is considered a hidden gem in this draft class. He posted 87 receptions, 1,183 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns last season. At 6’4″ with excellent body control and athleticism, Higgins offers the Raiders a potential mismatch nightmare for opposing defenses.

These two selections could transform the Raiders’ offense in 2025. With Geno Smith at the helm and a receiving corps that includes Jayden Higgins, Brock Bowers, and Jakobi Meyers, the passing game looks dangerous. Add a backfield featuring Judkins and Raheem Mostert, and the Raiders could have one of the most well-balanced and explosive offenses in the league. While not the draft many expected, Reed’s mock paints a promising picture for the silver and black heading into the future.
