New York Jets Flight Connections 05/08/25

Good morning Gang Green Nation! The latest rumor has New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard “in play” to be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This appears to originate with a Mike Florio story using that carefully selected vague wording which could mean anything or nothing, citing unnamed NFL sources. What does “in play” mean? Are the Steelers interested? Is this coming from the Jets’ side? Who knows? The only reason this kind of rumor has any juice at all is because the Steelers are still expected to sign Aaron Rodgers at some point, and Lazard is a Rodgers favorite.

Could it happen? Sure, but I’m a bit skeptical here. From the Jets side this would make sense, as Lazard’s primary contribution to the Jets’ receiving group is dropping the ball, and they seem to have drafted the perfect replacement for that skill set this year. Unlike the Jets, the Steelers organization is not known for doing dumb things, and adding a soon to be 30 year old drop machine would be a dumb thing. We’ll see what happens, but I’m not laying any bets on the Steelers making such a trade.
