While it was a disappointing 5-12 season all around for the New York Jets in 2024, one of the organization’s brightest young stars was among the biggest letdowns.

Running back Breece Hall finished last season with career lows in yards per game following a 2023 campaign where he nearly eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing. That has resulted him in being the center of many controversial rumors this offseason about a potential trade.

As of late, the Jets have made no indication of moving their young ball-carrier – despite swirling rumors and Hall’s cryptic dig on X that started the uproar of rumors.

At this point in the offseason Hall’s trade value is as high as it’s going to get, which is much lower than it was earlier … and likely too low for any bite.

Because of this, if he returns to New York for his fourth NFL season, NJ.com’s Andy Vasquez believes Hall is one of the guys who have a lot to prove.

“Hall should be highly motivated to prove he has put his confidence issues in 2024 behind him as he heads into a contract year, and if he looks anything like the dual threat weapon who was among the top five in yards from scrimmage in 2024 – when he was less than 100% as he recovered from a torn ACL – that could be a very good thing for the Jets,” Vasquez wrote.

As mentioned, Hall, 24, is entering the final deal of his rookie contract, so a strong bounce-back season will greatly benefit his chances of signing a large deal next offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

His amount of touches could be a problem in 2025, as new head coach Aaron Glenn hinted at the idea of a split-carries approach with Braelon Allen.

Also with a new leader under center in quarterback Justin Fields, the Jets will need a strong run game if there isn’t a smooth transition with Fields in the pass attack.

It will still up to Hall to be productive in his touches this season and look to earn his place atop the depth chart like many – including himself – believe he deserves.
