The new regime in Florham Park is running things differently. Since the arrival of general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn, the New York Jets have taken a noticeably quieter, more secretive approach to team-building.
Gone are the days of weekly leaks and public posturing. This regime has chosen secrecy, and that extends to the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Jets have been linked to a wide range of prospects over the last few months, from offensive linemen like Armand Membou and Will Campbell to top tight end Tyler Warren. But despite the speculation, no clear consensus target has emerged — at least not publicly.
With a long list of roster needs and the unpredictable nature of this year’s class, most believed the Jets would simply let the board fall as it may. That might still be the case, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter added a new wrinkle with his latest draft report on Monday.

Schefter reported that the Jets recently and quietly brought Warren in for a visit, adding that there are “certain members of their organization who are said to be enamored” with the former Penn State star.
For an organization that’s made a point to operate in relative silence, this rare bit of intel could be their biggest reveal yet — or perhaps it’s just typical draft-week misdirection. A well-timed smokescreen, if you will.
Warren has been arguably the most popular projection for the Jets in mock drafts leading up to this week’s event. The 2024 Mackey Award winner is believed by many to be the top tight end in this year’s draft class, and the Jets have an obvious hole at the position.
The team signed former Los Angeles Chargers standout Stone Smartt to join a room featuring the likes of Jeremy Ruckert, Zack Kuntz, and Neal Johnson, but none of those players project as legitimate starting options.
The Jets need playmakers on offense, and Warren could be exactly that. The 22-year-old broke out in 2024 with 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns, putting together one of the most productive seasons by a tight end in FBS history.
The Jets’ tight-lipped approach this offseason has only added to the intrigue surrounding their first-round plans. Unlike past regimes that seemed to thrive on leaking rumors to the media, the current front office has made a concerted effort to keep everything close to the vest.
With so little concrete information leaking out of Florham Park, it’s entirely possible the reported interest in Warren is part of a calculated smokescreen.
The Jets have been linked to offensive linemen, pass catchers, and even a number of defensive players in the buildup to the draft. Whether this Warren visit signals that he’s a true top target or is merely one of several strategic breadcrumbs being dropped remains to be seen.
Either way, the secrecy is working. No one truly knows what the Jets will do at No. 7 overall, and that’s exactly how Mougey and Glenn want it.
