With the 2025 NFL Draft less than two weeks away, the mock drafts and the speculation are running wild. 32 teams are making franchise-altering decisions, and everyone wants to know their plans. Here’s one question for every team going into the 2025 Draft: AFC West Edition
Travis Kelce is in the twilight of his career, and Andy Reid is pushing 70. Patrick Mahomes had a mediocre season in 2024, and the Chiefs relied heavily on their defense. The Chiefs’ dynasty might be dwindling.
Kansas City’s offensive line was less than impressive last year. The lack of protection is what hindered Mahomes’ production, and the offense is missing bonafide weapons.
Las Vegas Raiders: Will They Draft A Running Back?
The Raiders are looking at a fresh start and a new era. Pete Carroll is the new head coach, Geno Smith is the new quarterback, and Vegas is finally turning the page. This team is in desperate need of a rebuild, and it’s nice to see them embrace it.
It’s unclear where the new-look Raiders will go in this Draft. The hot rumor is that they will draft Boise State superstar Ashton Jeanty, but they may go with a receiver or offensive lineman.
The Raiders need to build a stellar roster. Geno Smith isn’t the long-term solution, but the QB room isn’t an immediate problem. They’re in a good spot to build something and insert their franchise guy into a nice situation.
Los Angeles Chargers: Will They Get Herbert Some Help?
The Chargers had a fairly successful first year under head coach Jim Harbaugh. They went 11-6 and lost in the Wild Card round of the Playoffs. For a team that’s reinventing itself, that’s not a bad start.
The Chargers found an identity as an efficient, run-first offense. The Bolts had their best record since Herbert’s debut, and he threw a career-low in interceptions. Herbert was finally able to grow in a steady system, and it’ll only get better for him.
The Chargers should prioritize bringing weapons in for Herbert. They’re similar to the Packers. They’ve got young, talented guys, but no one who instills fear into a defense. Herbert needs a number one target and someone who compliments his playstyle.
Denver Broncos: Which Weapon Is Sean Payton’s Favorite?
The Broncos are a lot like the Chargers in a sense. Sean Payton has found a groove with this roster. His system is proving successful, and he’s got a quarterback to bet his future on.
Bo Nix was a breakout star in his rookie year, and he did so with an underrated offensive group. Now Sean Payton has gone through the growing pains, and he can have some fun.
If the Broncos can bring in Matthew Golden, Tyler Warren, or even Colston Loveland, the possibilities are endless. Sean Payton can have a field day with an electric offense.
The AFC West has been run by the Chiefs for the last eight years, and the tide may be changing now. The Chargers are putting together a winning culture under Jim Harbaugh, and the Broncos are breakout contenders. The Raiders are entering a painful rebuild, but Pete Carroll is the man for the job. The 2025 Draft will be huge for the status quo in the West.
