Pete Crow-Armstrong drives in 4 as Cubs edge Dodgers

Posted on April 24, 2025

Pete Crow-Armstrong homered among his three hits and drove in a career-high four runs, lifting the host Chicago Cubs to a 7-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday.

Crow-Armstrong belted a three-run homer in the fourth inning and added an RBI single in the fifth, one day after going deep among his three hits in Chicago’s 11-10 win over Los Angeles in 10 innings.

Crow-Armstrong also had two of his team’s five stolen bases, matching a season high, to help the Cubs win the season series 4-3.

Dansby Swanson had a two-run single during a four-run fifth inning for Chicago, which has won seven of its last 10 games.

Matthew Boyd (2-2) benefited from the offensive outburst to get the win despite allowing six runs (three earned) on 10 hits over six innings. Two relievers bridged the gap to Porter Hodge, who retired the side in order in the ninth inning to secure his first save of the season.

Los Angeles’ Teoscar Hernandez ripped a two-run single with two outs in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fifth. Andy Pages also went deep for the second straight game, and Mookie Betts added an RBI double for the Dodgers.

Chicago turned a 5-3 deficit into a 7-5 lead in the fifth inning after Swanson’s two-run single off Jack Dreyer (2-1), a sacrifice fly by Nico Hoerner, and Crow-Armstrong’s single to center field.

Dreyer yielded four runs on two hits and three walks in one inning while throwing just 14 of 30 pitches for strikes.

The Dodgers loaded the bases in the third inning before Hernandez’s sharp single to left field plated Michael Conforto and Austin Barnes to open the scoring.

Nate Davis replaced Anthony Banda with one out in the fourth inning and promptly allowed a single and a walk before Crow-Armstrong deposited a 2-0 sinker into the basket just over the wall in left-center field.

Betts’ double into the left field corner forged a tie before Hernandez sent a first-pitch slider from Boyd over the wall in left-center to stake Los Angeles to a 5-3 lead.
