Raiders’ Geno Smith gets key news on future as Las Vegas QB

Geno Smith will be staying in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future. The Raiders are now hoping that plenty of good things happen.

Geno Smith agrees to 2-yr/$85.5M extension with Raiders ‘The Insiders’

Smith has signed a two-year extension with the Raiders, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Thursday. It gives him a total of three years under contract with his new team.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the two years of the extension are worth $85.5 million, including $66.5 million guaranteed.

The Raiders made Smith a priority acquisition when they traded for him from the Seahawks, and now they’ve got him dialed in for the next few years.

Smith is one of the NFL’s most underrated quarterbacks.

The 34-year old had a 28-24 record as a starter in Seattle. This past season, he threw for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Smith as also put up a completion percentage of 68 percent or better in three of the past four seasons.

In Vegas, Smith is reunited with former coach Pete Carroll, and they’ve got at least a few years to see how good they can be together.
