Reacts Survey: What position will the Detroit Lions draft first?

Posted on April 16, 2025

We’re back with another edition of our SB Nation Reacts Survey. This week, we’re looking forward to the NFL Draft, and turning to the good folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook to help formulate our question:

What position will the Detroit Lions draft first?

For this question, we are looking for fans to predict the position of the first player the Lions select in the 2025 NFL Draft. To be clear, first player, not the first round. FanDuel Sportsbook has provided Lions fans with six options to choose from, which are listed below, along with the current odds listed on their gambling website.

Defensive Lineman/Edge: -190

Offensive Lineman: +210

Wide receiver: +1500

Cornerback: +1400

Safety: +3800

Linebacker: +3800

The odds heavily favor a player from the defensive line, which is no surprise, considering FanDuel Sportsbook has coupled together both defensive tackles and edge players into one group. Not only are those two positions arguably the deepest in this draft class but the Lions could also very much use depth at both spots.

Offensive line is also very much in the mix for the Lions and it makes perfect sense that they would fall next on the list, as Detroit is in a great spot to acquire a player of value to add to the people movers.

While staying in the trenches is where the smart money is at, Brad Holmes is a “best player available” general manager and could surprise us all come draft night. So, if you’ve got a gut feeling the Lions could select a wide receiver, defensive back, or linebacker first in their draft class, those odds pay out handsomely for a risk taker.

Alright, it’s time to vote in the poll below, wound off in the comments, and keep an eye out later in the week for the results.
