Roy Keane shows true colours as darts superstar teases The Overlap appearance…
Reigning world darts champion Luke Humphries has teased a special The Overlap episode. The 29-year-old, who beat teenage sensation Luke Littler to become the champion of the world for the first time back in January, was pictured alongside the likes of Roy Keane and Gary Neville.
In an Instagram post, Humphries, the current darting world number one, shared six separate images of him in The Overlap studio with “some of the best footballers to have played the game”. The first photo showed Humphries alongside Keane, Jill Scott and Ian Wright, while Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and comedian Michael McIntyre featured in some of the other shots.
Humphries, who boasts 231,000 followers, said: “Had a great time filming on the @wearetheoverlap today with some of the best footballers to have played the game,” followed by a fist pumping emoji and the football emoji. “Was a great laugh and enjoyed the experience,” accompanied with the smiling face emoji.
Keane’s appearance – even holding a set of darts in one photo – comes a matter of months since he appeared to downplay the difficulty of the sport. During a conversation while working at Euro 2024 in Germany, Keane replied in typical fashion after Ian Wright labelled darts as “magnificent”.
“It’s all about practice. We could all become darts players if we practiced,” Keane said.
Wright noted the 2023 World Championship final when Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen as a memorable moment. “It’s magnificent is the darts,” Wright said.
