KOBE — A woman was arrested on July 20 on suspicion of corpse abandonment after the body of what authorities believe is her baby boy was discovered in a bag at a local golf course two days prior.

 

Suspect Yuka Tatehara, a 28-year-old resident of Osaka’s Hirano Ward, was quoted as telling Hyogo Prefectural Police, “It’s true.”

 

Tatehara is accused of abandoning the corpse of a baby in a plastic bag inside a restroom at the golf course in Kobe’s Kita Ward at about 4:20 p.m. on July 18. According to the prefectural police’s First Investigation Division, the infant’s body had no noticeable external injuries.

 

On the afternoon of July 19, the golf course reported finding a suspicious object in a bag, and officers from the Arima Police Station who arrived at the scene confirmed there was a corpse in the bag. Security camera footage and other evidence led to Tatehara’s identification as a suspect.
