With that in mind, there is one player that Indianapolis should try to pull off a trade to acquire.
Right now, the Colts hold the No. 14 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. However, the perfect pickup for the offense would be Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
There is a good chance that Warren will be selected ahead of Indianapolis. Ballard should attempt to trade up to get him. Moving up from No. 14 to the No. 7 or No. 8 area would not come cheap. Warren would be well worth the price tag. During the 2024 college football season with the Nittany Lions, Warren put together a big year. He caught 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns.
Standing in at 6-foot-6 and nearly 260 pounds, the Mechanicsville, Virginia native would provide Richardson and the Colts with a tight end capable of stretching the field with his speed and athleticism. He could also be an elite red zone and short-yardage target with his size.
Warren is the whole package. He’s everything that an NFL team looks for in a tight end. NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein has compared Warren to former NFL tight end Jeremy Shockey, who many would argue is one of the most talented players at his position all-time.
