Sadness in Darts world as formal talented Darts legend Phil Taylor has been officially confirmed…

The 16-time world champion has been struggling with his hip, forcing him to withdraw from the competition.

And at 64, Taylor has decided to move on from darts for good.

Is Phil Taylor retired?

Taylor has now officially retired from professional darts, though he hasn’t competed in a major PDC event since 2018.

But he was a regular at the World Senior Darts Championship.

Taylor has already had hip surgery, and in the end, it all got a bit too much.

“I’m struggling a bit with my hip. Scar tissue,” Taylor told Online Darts.
“Everything was going fine, but then I just did a little too much and apparently I’ve torn my scar tissue. So yeah, it’s a bit painful.

Practicing, I’ve been okay, but when you’ve been playing for a few hours there’s this really bad pain in the hip.

“It’s like having toothache and it drives me crazy, it really does.”

Taylor won an incredible 16 World Championship during his professional career, scooping 85 major titles and victorious in 214 professional tournaments.

The Power also won the Premier League six times and led England to glory four times in the World Cup.

Reflecting on his illustrious career last year, Taylor remarked: “It’s been an unbelievable journey over the past 35 years and I’ve loved every minute of it.

“I’ll always love performing to the best of my ability.

“But time waits for no man and I know now is the right time to step away from the Tour.

“I’m going to be working just as hard as I always have to make sure I give the fans what they want and go out on top.”
