San Francisco 49ers standout wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk sustained a torn ACL and MCL last October and may miss considerable time at the beginning of the 2025 season. Consequently, the team might search for someone to fill his position.
In a recent piece by Moe Moton of Bleacher Report, he highlights several NFL free agents he finds surprising have not yet been signed by any team. One player he refers to is experienced wide receiver Keenan Allen, and he believes the Niners could be a suitable match.
The San Francisco 49ers might start the season without Brandon Aiyuk, who is healing from a torn ACL and MCL. As stated by general manager John Lynch, Demarcus Robinson could face a suspension lasting three weeks,” Moton reported. “Allen would be a great addition to complete three-receiver formations with Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall.” He’s also a better option than Robinson and would enable the 49ers to graduallybring Aiyuk back into play.
It appears that the Chicago Bears are parting ways with the 33-year-old wideout, and a team such as the 49ers might capitalize on this.
Allen concluded this recent season with 744 yards and seven touchdowns, numbers that may seem ordinary for him. However, he was targeted just 121 times by Bears’ young quarterback Caleb Williams, marking the second-lowest total for Allen in the last seven years.
Younger receivers such as Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings might have significant impacts for the Niners this season, and acquiring a veteran like Allen to mentor them could be worth considering for the team.
