Shedeur Sanders is heading to the Cleveland Browns.
The 23-year-old quarterback and son of Colorado Buffaloes coach and former NFL star Deion Sanders was selected by the team as the 144th overall pick Saturday (April 26).
The team had passed over the player six times over the process, and he was passed over in the first four rounds of the draft that started earlier in the week, via NFL.
He posted a message on X, simply writing, “Thank you GOD.”
The Cleveland Browns then posted a highlight reel on their account, writing: “Another playmaker in the mix.”
The draft came after Deion threw a draft-day party on the first day of the draft, and went viral in a video looking upset after the New Orleans Saints picked Kelvin Banks Jr. over his son.
He later told party attendees “we all didn’t expect this,” and that it only added “fuel to the fire.”
“We trust GOD & and we don’t know any other way,” Shedeur wrote on social media.
Prior to the draft, it was assumed he would likely be a first or second-round pick for major teams, but that clearly didn’t happen.
