The Pittsburgh Steelers, an NFL franchise once highly regarded, have faced challenges in achieving success in recent years. The Steelers’ most recent playoff win happened eight years back when they triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 Divisional Round.
After beginning the season with a 10-3 record, they stumbled into the playoffs, suffering five straight losses to conclude the regular season. Steelers supporters have begun voicing their dissatisfaction with the Rooney Family and Mike Tomlin.
No one has shown their dissatisfaction as greatly as Steelers supporter and Barstool Sports podcast host, Kevin Adams:
Although the Steelers have not experienced a losing season with Mike Tomlin at the helm since 2007, the fans expect more than just first-round playoff exits from their team each year.
The issue with Adams’ request is that since the NFL merger in 1970, the Steelers have had merely three head coaches. Chuck Noll’s period of coaching extended from 1969 to 1991. Bill Cowher served as the coach between 1992 and 2006. And Tomlin has remained in Pittsburgh since then.
The Steelers are currently tied with the New England Patriots for the highest number of Super Bowl wins (6), but that hiatus appears to have ended. Only time will reveal the extent, if any, of Adams’ billboard’s impact on the decisions made by Steelers ownership in the future, but we seriously doubt it will compel the Rooney Family to sell the team.
