The Chicago Cubs have made a roster change, recalling pitcher Enoli Paredes while sending Gavin Hollowell back to the minors.

The Cubs made another roster move today, recalling Enoli Paredes, who didn’t get a chance to play for Triple-A Iowa after being claimed off waivers from the Brewers yesterday. Paredes, 28, has previously pitched for the Astros from 2020-22 and appeared in 17 games for the Brewers this season, posting a solid 1.74 ERA and 1.113 WHIP.

Despite those numbers, the Brewers waived him, likely due to his high walk rate—41 walks in 54 MLB innings, equating to a concerning 17 percent. The Cubs are giving him a chance, hoping their Pitch Lab can address this issue. Meanwhile, Gavin Hollowell, who pitched well in his single inning for the Cubs, has been sent down, and likely won’t return next season. The Cubs now have two Paredes on their roster, at least for the time being.
