TRENDING: Mahomes Fires Back After Dak Prescott Calls Chiefs ‘Nouveau Riche Refs’ Pets’

Posted on June 15, 2025

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes unleashed a fiery retort to Cowboys’ Dak Prescott’s jab calling Kansas City “nouveau riche refs’ pets,” sources told ESPN, escalating tensions between the NFL’s elite.

Mahomes, 29, snapped back, “Shut up and prove it. You’ll never face us because you can’t reach the Super Bowl. Stop living in the past,” addressing Prescott’s remarks at a Dallas event.

Prescott’s dig, mocking Chiefs’ recent success and alleging referee favoritism, sparked outrage. Kansas City, with four Super Bowl trips since 2020, dwarfs Dallas’ playoff drought since 1995.

In 2024, Mahomes threw for 4,159 yards, leading Kansas City to Super Bowl LIX, falling 40-22 to Philadelphia. Prescott’s 3,884 yards couldn’t lift Dallas past the divisional round.

Chiefs Kingdom erupted on X: “Mahomes owns Dak!” tweeted @ChiefsFanatic. Others, like @KCFan4Life, jabbed, “Cowboys haven’t seen a Super Bowl in 30 years. Sit down, Prescott!”

Cowboys fans countered: “Dak’s right, Chiefs get ref help!” posted @DallasDiehard. Yet, PFF data shows Kansas City’s 6.2 penalties per game in 2024, matching league averages.

Mahomes’ three Super Bowl MVPs cement his dominance, while Prescott’s 2-5 playoff record draws scrutiny. The Chiefs’ $12.78 million cap space fuels their 2025 title chase.

As minicamp looms, Mahomes’ clapback intensifies Chiefs-Cowboys bad blood. Will Prescott respond on the field? Stay tuned to ESPN for updates on this brewing rivalry.
