Pittsburgh Steelers roster at the moment, therefore the organization is searching for a replacement.
Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, is one of the names that have been mentioned. James Palmer, an NFL insider, claims that the veteran is probably no longer on the Steelers’ radar.
“The Steelers called and kicked the tires early, but my understanding is that Arthur Smith, being the former head coach in Atlanta, still knows plenty of people in that building and kind of got the word on where things are with Kirk in terms of his play and where he’s at in terms of his play as a quarterback,” Palmer stated.
“The Steelers, obviously, have fallen off.” As they continue to (uncomfortably) wait for Aaron Rodgers to decide whether or not to visit The Steel City, the Steelers have several reasons to reject the Cousins concept.
However, “The revelation that in essence the offensive coordinator of the Steelers has checked with his pals in Atlanta and been given bad news on where Cousins is at right now?” NFL expert Mike Fisher writes to AllSteelers.com.
That is quite damning.
The Achilles injury Cousins sustained in 2023 seems to have left him a shadow of his former self, as he had a very dismal season in 2024. Despite throwing 16 interceptions, he managed to throw for just over 3,500 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Former MVP Rodgers is the other seasoned field general the Steelers have been linked to. He appears to be the more likely of the two quarterbacks the team will pursue, even though the two parties have not yet been able to come to an agreement on a contract.
